About the Artist

This gifted artist has donated her time and talent to create a beautiful breast cast for the Generation Pink auction. A wonderfully creative art form has been transformed from a plain white cast to support stopping breast cancer. Mary Vandezande

Mary Vandezande was born in Grand Haven, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan has received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree. Mary also studied at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Now living in Colorado Springs, Mary works in school Social Work.

Mary has received numerous awards including the Carolyn Granger Award, Penn Academy of Fine Arts; Frannklin Watkins Prize, PAFA, Paper Construction Award and Ned Rifkin Juror.

Mary’s mentor is Elizabeth Murray whose sculptures/paintings point the way for her. Mary’s favorite piece of work she has created is always the piece she is working on. Currently she is in love with a four box piece that floats against the wall and has deep mysterious reds.
